October 2009

Bryan turned 30 on October 3rd. The day started off with a yummy breakfast of fancy french toast. Dylan wanted to give dad candy for his birthday so I decided to make him a candy gram. Dylan really enjoyed helping dad eat the candy. In the evening Bryan and I went out with our friends to dinner and then we went bowling for a few hours at Lucky Strike.

Dylan and I enjoyed our 2nd annual trip to Maris Farms with Nana. Dylan was able to do a lot more of the activities this year and he really enjoyed himself. He loved the bouncy house and the corn pit. He went on his first pony ride and his horse, Ester, was really nice. Instead of picking out a big pumpkin he wanted two little pumpkins that cost a whole 50 cents. Maybe next year he will be into picking out a pumpkin. I personally loved seeing him ride in the cow shaped barrel that was pulled by a tractor. All the kids looked so cute as they rode around and lifted their hands in the air when they went over bumps. It was too cute!

Halloween was really fun. With Dylan's current obsession with firemen, we only had one option for a halloween costume and that was to make him a fireman. He looked so cute in his outfit and he had fun trick-or-treating at a few houses around our neighborhood with Sawyer (who was a ketchup bottle) and Chloe (who was a poodle). After trick-or-treating everyone came back to our house for dinner. It was even more special because along with the parents a bunch of the grandparents were able to come and celebrate halloween with the kids. We had a special day with lots of candy!

Little Mess Maker

Now that Dylan is out of the crib he is enjoying the new found freedom he has in his room. Today during nap time I could tell that he was moving around the room and making noise, but he was out of the view of the video monitor and I couldn't tell what he was doing. All of the sudden I heard the monitor moving and I knew you could only reach that from his dresser. I walked in his room to find him sitting on his dresser with the mess (pictured below) on the floor.

There was oinment smeared all over the carpet, all of the wipes out of the wipes warmer and diapers everywhere. It was probably a bad "mom" moment to grab the camera, but I knew it would be funny to look back on.

Dylan's Little Sister

Here is our first picture of Dylan's little sister. We are all very excited to meeting her. In fact, every few days Dylan says "I want my little sister to come over and play."

Day at the Fair!

This week we took Dylan to the Puyallup Fair for the first time. Dylan loved seeing the police officers (and their huge SWAT truck), the firefighters and all the animals.

Dylan also really liked the rides. We didn't think he would want to go on as many as he did, but we had to go back for more tickets because he just didn't want to stop.

Big Boy Bed!!

A few weeks ago we finally moved Dylan into his very own "Big Boy Bed." Dylan was very excited about his new bed and wasted no time showing us how he can jump on his bed and get in and out of his bed.

These great features of his new bed were fun, but did make the transition for sleeping a little tricky. However, it only took few days, and a couple of naps on the floor for Dylan to embrace his new bed for what it is really made for.

The Kangaroo Hunter

Last weekend we made another trip to visit the Kangaroos and Wallabies in Fall City. We all learned a lot about these very interesting animals, but Dylan was mostly interested in chasing them around the farm to make them hop.

The Wallabies were a little scared of Dylan, but the Kangaroos seemed to like him.

Our Little Firefighter

Dylan has become quite the little Firefighter ever since he got a big fire truck and fireman helmet from Grandma and Grandpa. First thing every morning he has to go out to the garage to wear his helmet and either work on his truck or drive it. Dylan was really lucky and got tours of two different fire stations and even got to drive a fire truck! Grandma found a video of real firefighters that Dylan really loves. After watching the video he starts using some real firefighter lingo when playing with his trucks. Some of his favorites include, "all types of emergencies, all types of situations", "rescue one", "ladder four", and "I'm going to fight fires". Here's a video of him working on his fire truck and talking about the emergencies and situations.
